Week 43: Reel Big Fish – Take on Me (Skacoustic)

Is it only me, or was it ages ago since a cover made it as track of the week? Well, either way that’s exactly what today’s track is. And it’s not just acoustic, it’s skacoustic! This great up-tempo track was included on the 2011 Reel Big Fish album titled just that and is a real treat. With vocals that are good enough, some nice brass and really good guitar playing I just can’t withstand the charm of this track.

Week 41: Flobots – Handlebars

Apart from having an amazing trumpet solo the track this week has some of the best lyrics ever written. For a track that starts out very innocent, it quickly escalates into something frantic that describes the destructive nature of humanity. This track also has a great flow and rhythm, which together with everything else makes it pretty darn good.

Week 40: Danzig – Mother

This week’s track is one of the most iconic heavy metal tracks from the late 80s. The simple but highly effective instrumentation does a lot to highlight the amazing vocal performance by Glenn Danzig. This is one of those tracks I listen to when I need an energy boost.
